THE ECLECTIC MONIKER - THE WONDER (SUCK ON MY LOVE)

This song made me realized two things - 1) My favourite music genre is officially disco/nu-disco. 2) Denmark has more musical talents than I thought.

The Eclectic Moniker has been around since 2010 and it's such a shame that I just discovered them now. On the other hand, its a blessing that I had the opportunity to enjoy their beautiful creation. Hailing from Odense, Denmark, The Eclectic Moniker started as a trio and later on joined by other members, making them a musical collective rather than a band.

I first noticed this band through "Avalanche", their latest single. The part that makes this song stood out from the rest is how the band adds unexpected musical instruments into this indie pop tune. It doesn't only blends in well but also enhances the atmosphere of the music.

So I delved further. It was one of the best choices I've ever made in my life so far. Turns out "Avalanche" is merely one of the many gems of The Eclectic Moniker. Thanks to that I found "The Wonder". "The Wonder" is a very disco-sey tune that brings one back to the 70s 80s disco scene. The best part of the song is probably the midi percussion part, and arguably the most memorable part (aside from suck on my love).

So far, among the Scandinavian pop music scene I've heard a lot of indie pop, house, disco, EDM stuff from both Norway and Sweden but not from Denmark. Most Danish musicians I know so far has a more sultry R&B or soul approach but hardly disco or electronica. Ok, maybe a lot of you might say I clearly haven't listen to enough Denmark music. Fair enough I agree with that. Maybe from this point on, I shall pay more attention to Danish artists.

The best thing about The Eclectic Moniker is that although in general they sound like they belong to the indie category, their songs involves very different genres individually. From a disco sound in "The Wonder" to a tropical melody in "Easter Island", it's like each song has tells its own story.
