All bad things that happened today are forgiven, because Phlake is here to make it all right. Danish duo Phlake is back once again, this time with bringing their debut album “Slush Hours”.

In this album, Phlake is slowly establishing their individual colours to stand as an R&B duo amidst at the height of Scandinavian pop. The whole album is about getting dirty, greasy while immersing yourself into a psychedelic bliss. In short, it wants you to get Slush. That’s why the album is perfectly named as “Slushed Hours”.

The opening number “Costa Rica” is a light prelude to their hit “Angel Zoo”. The mellow guitar chords and Mad Bo’s ethereal vocals set the mood before diving into a more intense tone. “Like You” and “May Be” slow things down a little before getting to their anthem that serenades all pregnant ladies perfectly.

Once again in the album, “Pregnant” is the standout track. It tells you that although you should get slush and release all your sexiness, don’t be afraid if it gets too dirty or awkward. As sexy as the songs and album gets, this song still never fails to get a hearty laugh out of me.

“Moldovia” and “Something Better” is among the more poppy numbers, unlike “Stallin’” and “Breakup Business” which drags the mood slow. “Stallin’” particularly is psychedelic and procrastination dragged in slow motion. Probably slower than “New Slow”. “New Slow” is the song about slowing down but has a beat that can make you skip to.

The album closes with “Dress Off”, which probably is a song that should be at the start of the album and let the rest of them be slushy. Nevertheless, it is as sexy as the rest of the album gets.
